Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Vehicle on Vernon Avenue in Vermont Square

Person Killed in Vermont Square Pedestrian Accident on West Vernon Avenue Thursday night

Los Angeles, California (May 9, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Thursday night in the Vermont Square neighborhood in Los Angeles, according to a local news source.

At around 9:24 p.m. Thursday, May 7, officers received a report about the fatal crash in the 2000 block of West Vernon Avenue.

As per the report, the pedestrian was hit by a grey Honda sedan on the roadway for unknown reasons.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the pedestrian lying in the road with major trauma.

Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The accident remains under investigation.

A person on foot is no match for a vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death. “Due to the incredibly serious nature of these types of injuries, pedestrian accident cases often require special care in order to help ensure victims receive the full compensation they need for extensive medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, in-home care, lost past and future earnings, and numerous other economic and non-economic damages”, Said Arin Khodaverdian, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Arin noted that pedestrians, in most instances, have the right-of-way when crossing a street or an intersection. According to Arin, to properly investigate a pedestrian crash and prove negligence, enough resources are required. “A skilled attorney has the resources and will help investigate the accident to determine the party at fault,” Arin said
