Woman Killed in Oceanside Pedestrian Crash on Oceanside Boulevard near College Boulevard
Oceanside, California (May 14, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Wednesday night auto-pedestrian crash that killed a woman in Oceanside.
At around 8:45 p.m. on May 13, the police responded to the fatal crash on Oceanside Boulevard near College Boulevard.
A car, driven by a 22-year-old man, struck the woman who was pushing a cart. She was crossing Oceanside Street legally from northbound to southbound at a break in the road when the accident happened, according to the officials.
The police said the male driver who was believed to have been distracted was heading east on Oceanside Boulevard. He tried to swerve to avoid hitting the woman but ended up hitting her.
The woman, believed to be a transient, was found lying on the eastbound lanes by the first responders. She was aided and transported to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver stopped at the scene and was cooperating with the authorities.
Drugs or alcohol were not believed to have played a role in the crash.
