Ventura, California (March 2, 2020) - Police officers are investigating the cause of a deadly train crash that left a woman dead on Saturday, February 29, at around 4:55 p.m. in Ventura.
The Ventura Police Department responded to the crash on the tracks west of Anacapa Street, where a pedestrian was hit by an Amtrak train for reasons still under investigation.

The conductor said they made all emergency attempts to stop the train, but they couldn't get the train to stop in time, and it struck the woman was lying on the tracks.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details of the crash were immediately released.

Amtrak police and Ventura Police and City Fire are investigating the crash.
