Sebastian Martinez Dies after Kern County Car Accident on Highway 33 near Barker Road

Kern County, California (March 18, 2020) – Sebastian Alberto Martinez, 21, has been identified as the person who was killed in a head-on car crash that left two other people injured on Sunday night in Kern County, according to police.

At about 9:40 p.m., on March 15, a two-vehicle accident was reported on Highway 33 near Barker Road, just south of the Kern-Kings County line.

Police said Martinez was driving a Toyota Camry southbound on Highway 33 when, for unknown reasons, he swerved northbound into the path of a GMC and the two vehicles collided head-on.

The Toyota was also hit by another vehicle that was traveling on the highway, said the CHP.

Martinez was declared dead as a result of the accident.

Kern County firefighters freed the GMC driver who was trapped in his car. He was taken to Kern Medical Center with major injuries.

The third driver sustained minor injuries from the crash.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
