Person Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 5 near Cesar E Chavez Parkway
San Diego, California (March 17, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being hit by several vehicles late Sunday night in San Diego, according to a local news source.
The accident occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15 on Interstate 5, just north of Cesar E Chavez Parkway.
The California Highway Patrol said the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes the interstate. The person was then hit by several other vehicles.
The pedestrian died at the scene. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Authorities closed Interstate 5 between Cesar Chavez Parkway and Logan Avenue to investigate the accident. It remains unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
