Paso Robles, California (March 16, 2020) – Jesus Duarte Lopez of Salinas, has been identified as the driver who was seriously injured in a head-on crash that killed a San Luis Obispo man in Paso Robles Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 15 on Highway 46 near Antelope Road.
According to the CHP, an 84-year-old San Luis Obispo man was driving a 2010 Chino motorcoach westbound on Highway 46 East downhill from Antelope Road at around 55 mph when he crossed over double yellow lines into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Freighlighter truck that was traveling uphill at about 45 mph.

The driver of the Chino motorcoach was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Lopez, who was the driver of the Freightliner, was taken to the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo with major injuries.
Alcohol, drugs, and distracted driving were not considered factors in the accident. At the time of the collision, it was cold and raining.
The accident remains under investigation.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
