Abraham Trejo ID’d as Boy Killed in South Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard

Los Angeles, California (March 11, 2020) – The boy who was struck and killed by a vehicle as he walked to school Tuesday morning in South Los Angeles has been identified as Abraham Trejo, 12.

The accident happened at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 in the 100 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The California Highway Patrol said Trejo was walking across Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in a crosswalk when he was hit by an SUV that was making a left turn from Woodlawn Avenue onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Trejo died at the scene despite efforts by officers from the Los Angeles Fire Department and paramedics to save his life.

The driver of the SUV, a 43-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was temporarily closed as the authorities examined the scene.

According to the reports, Trejo was a student at Animo South Los Angeles Charter High School.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help cover Trejo's funeral expenses.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

A person on foot is no match for a vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death. “Due to the incredibly serious nature of these types of injuries, pedestrian accident cases often require special care in order to help ensure victims receive the full compensation they need for extensive medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, in-home care, lost past and future earnings, and numerous other economic and non-economic damages”, Said Arin Khodaverdian, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Arin noted that pedestrians, in most instances, have the right-of-way when crossing a street or an intersection. According to Arin, to properly investigate apedestrian crash and prove negligence, enough resources are required. “A skilled attorney has the resources and will help investigate the accident to determine the party at fault,” Arin said
