1 Killed in Bakersfield Car Crash on Bena Road at Neumarkel Road
Bakersfield, California – Jose Toro, 26, of McFarland, has been arrested following a suspected DUI crash that killed one person and injured two others on Sunday in Bakersfield.
The accident was reported at around 2:20 a.m. June 14, on Bena Road at Neumarkel Road.
The California Highway Patrol said Toro was driving a 2016 BMW westbound on Bena Road approaching Neumarkel Road while a 2003 Subaru WRX driven by a 21-year-old man was traveling eastbound.
Toro failed to stay in his lane and veered into the opposite lane directly into the path of the Subaru causing a head-on collision.
The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 19-year-old passenger in the same Subaru had minor injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center.
The police said Toro was driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested after receiving medical treatment.
