Coroner ID’d Randall King as Ojai Man Killed in Orange County Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway
Orange County, California (June 26, 2020) – The Ojai man who died after multiple vehicles collided in Orange County, at about 12:40 p.m., has been identified by the Orange County Coroner’s Office as 71-year-old Randall King.
The California Highway Patrol said a BMW was heading southbound on the 5 Freeway when it suddenly stopped near El Toro Road, Saturday afternoon, for unknown reasons. King was driving a Subaru following a Honda that was behind the BMW at the time. King managed to slow down to avoid a collision, but his Subaru was struck by a Ford on June 20.
King was rushed to Mission Hospital, where he later died.
Detectives said drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the wreck.
The CHP is still investigating to determine why the BMW abruptly stopped. Authorities asked anyone with information about the accident to call CHP officers at 949-487-4000.
