Xiaomin Deng Among 5 Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 190 in Death Valley

Inyo County, California (January 4, 2020) - Xiaomin Deng of Sammamish, WA, was among five people injured Monday evening in a head-on crash in Death Valley National Park, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at around 5:50 p.m. Monday, December 30 on State Route 190, just east of the Mesquite Dunes Parking Lot entrance.

As per the report, Takumi Sagawa of Hokkaido, Japan, was driving a Kia Optima westbound on Highway190 when for an unknown reason, he allowed his vehicle to cross the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu driven by Deng.

A total of five people were transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with moderate to major injuries.

The Bishop CHP is investigating the crash.
