45-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized after Scripps Ranch Car Accident at Carroll Canyon Road and Businesspark Avenue
San Diego, California (January 10, 2020) – A woman was seriously injured Thursday evening in a traffic accident involving three vehicles in the Scripps Ranch neighborhood of San Diego, according to a local news source.
The crash happened at around 4:20 p.m. Thursday, January 9 at the intersection of Carroll Canyon Road and Businesspark Avenue.
According to authorities, a 28-year-old man was driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz SUV eastbound in the 9900 block of Carroll Canyon Road when he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection and slammed into the left side of a northbound Toyota Camry that entered the intersection on a green light.
The force of the impact sent the Camry onto the sidewalk. The Mercedes also struck a blue 2008 Honda minivan that followed behind the Camry through the green light.
The driver of the Camry, a 45-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital with a fractured pelvis and other serious injuries.
The driver of the Honda, a 72-year-old woman, and the Mercedes driver, were not injured.
The San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating the accident.
