Walter Ashurst ID’d as Man Hit, Killed by Vehicle on North Texas Street and Air Base Parkway in Fairfield
Fairfield, California (January 8, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning at a Fairfield intersection as Walter Ashurst, 49, of Fairfield.
The fatal pedestrian accident happened at around 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, January 7 on North Texas Street near the intersection of Air Base Parkway.
Authorities said Ashurst was attempting to cross North Texas Street westbound when for an unknown reason, he was hit by a vehicle that was heading northbound.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found Ashurst laying down in the roadway with major injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved, a 29-year-old also of Fairfield, stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
