Long Beach, California (January 13, 2020) - A woman riding a skateboard across Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach was struck and critically injured by a motorist on Saturday night.

According to a report by the Long Beach Police Department, the accident was reported at about 10:25 p.m. January 12, near PCH and Lewis Avenue.

The woman was found lying in the roadway with major injuries. Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

The driver who hit the woman was at the scene when police arrived. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
