Santiago Cabezas Jr Killed in Highway 14 Crash in Santa Clarita

Santiago Cabezas Jr ID’d as Teen Killed in Santa Clarita Car Accident on Highway 14 near Sierra Highway

Santa Clarita, California (January 23, 2020) – The teenager who was killed early Thursday morning in a traffic accident on Highway 14 in Santa Clarita has been identified as Santiago Daniel Cabezas Jr., 19, of Santa Ana.

The deadly crash happened at around 1:04 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Highway 14, just north of Sierra Highway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Cabezas was driving a white Honda Civic southbound on Highway 14, approaching Sierra Highway at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the rear of a red Volvo truck that was stopped on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes of the truck ramp.

Cabezas was pronounced dead at the scene.  The operator of the Volvo was not injured.

Drugs, alcohol and excessive speed were considered a factor in the accident.

One of two southbound truck route lanes of the 14 Freeway were closed for about four hours as crews worked to clear the scene. As of 5:54 a.m., the roadway was reopened.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the CHP’s Newhall office at (661) 294-5540.

According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
