Echo Park, California (January 25, 2020) - Rosa Garcia, 61, of Los Angeles was killed in a crash involving a hit-and-run driver in the Echo Park neighborhood on Thursday morning, Los Angeles police said.
The crash occurred at about 7:45 a.m. January 23, on Sunset Boulevard near Douglas Street.
Los Angeles police said the suspect was driving a 2019 BMW M4 westbound on Sunset Boulevard when they swerved into the eastbound side and collided with an oncoming 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Garcia.
Garcia was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police said they are looking for a 39-year-old homeless man named Ilya Foks, identified as a suspect in the crash.
No other information was provided.
The authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice.
Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
