Ronnie Allemand Hospitalized after Gerber Bus Crash on Highway 99 at Gerber Road
Tehama County, California (January 9, 2020) – Ronnie Allemand, 41, of Corning, was injured Tuesday morning in a traffic accident involving a transit bus in Gerber, Tehama County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at around 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, January 7 on Highway 99 at Gerber Road.
The CHP said a 17 -year-old Los Molinos boy was driving a 1990 Ford Mustang eastbound on Gerber Road when he entered the intersection, directly in the pathway of a northbound 2017 Ford E-450 TRAX (Tehama County) transit bus operated by Steven Darrough, 68, of Red Bluff. As a result, the bus struck the passenger side of the Mustang.
The driver of the Mustang and his 14-year-old passenger were ejected upon the impact and suffered major injuries. The driver was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding and the passenger was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Red Bluff.
Darrough and three passengers on the bus, Allemand, Mary Ann Griffin, 74, of Corning, and Anthony Leon, 66, of Red Bluff, were taken to Mercy Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the CHP.
