Shasta Lake, California (January 4, 2020) – The motorcyclist who struck and killed by an Amtrak train Saturday afternoon in Shasta Lake has been identified as Richard "Ricky" Wesley Beaver, 34, of Shasta Lake.

The deadly accident took place at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 21, south of Shasta Dam Boulevard and West of La Mesa Avenue.

Authorities said Beaver was riding his motorcycle near Shasta Dam Boulevard and La Mesa Avenue when for an unknown reason, he was hit by the train.

Paramedics responded to the scene and they performed CPR on Beaver. Despite life-saving measures, Beaver did not survive his injuries and was sadly declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The Amtrak Police, Union Pacific Police and the sheriff's office are investigating the crash.
