Woman Hospitalized after Riverside Pedestrian Accident on La Sierra Avenue near Cypress Avenue

Riverside, California (January 5, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle Saturday evening in Riverside, according to authorities.

The accident happened just after 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4 on La Sierra Avenue, just south of Cypress Avenue.

Authorities said the woman, believed to be in her 30s or 40s, was walking on La Sierra Avenue when for an unknown reason, she was hit by a vehicle.

The woman sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital. Her name and condition were not immediately disclosed.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the crash.

All southbound lanes of La Sierra Avenue at Cypress Avenue were shut down as the investigation took place. Northbound lanes were open.

The accident remains under investigation.
