57-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fresno Pedestrian Accident at Shaw and Cedar Avenues
Fresno, California (January 19, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in Fresno, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal pedestrian accident took place at around 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 17 at the intersection of Shaw and Cedar avenues.
The CHP said a 57-year-old woman was crossing the street to Mcdonald’s to buy food for her elderly son when she was hit by a vehicle that was heading eastbound on Shaw Avenue. The impact sent the woman into the middle lane and was struck by another vehicle.
The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The driver of the first vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
Shaw Avenue next to Cedar Avenue was shut down as the police investigated the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
