Malibu, California (January 14, 2020) – One person was hospitalized after being involved in a traffic collision that took place in Malibu at about 5:40 p.m. Monday.

The major-injury pedestrian crash happened in the 22400 block of Pacific Coast Highway near Carbon Beach Terrace.

According to Lt. Anna Carrillo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a pedestrian was struck by a car on the highway for unknown reasons.

The victim sustained critical injuries in the crash. The patient was airlifted to UCLA's trauma center for medication.

The operator of the involved vehicle stopped after hitting the victim and cooperated with the law.

The investigation on the crash is still ongoing.
