Paula Napoli ID’d as Woman Killed in Pauma Valley Car Accident on State Route 76 near Adams Road
San Diego County, California (January 10, 2020) – Authorities have identified Paula Napoli, 43, of Winchester, as the woman who died last week Thursday night in an alleged DUI crash in Pauma Valley, San Diego County.
The deadly crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, January 2 on State Route 76 near Adams Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 23-year-old Temecula woman was driving eastbound on State Route 76 and was attempting to pass other vehicles when her Toyota Prius drifted into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Infinity sedan driven by Napoli.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and pulled Napoli from the wreckage. The medics then administered CPR on her at the nearby Pala Fire Station. Despite life-saving measures, Napoli did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead at the Pala Fire Station.
A 44-year-old Simi Valley woman who was riding as a passenger in the Infinity was taken to Palomar Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The female driver of the Prius suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to Palomar Medical Center, where she was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
