San Bernardino, California (January 9, 2020) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday evening in San Bernardino as Octavio Giron, 28, of San Bernardino.

The fatal pedestrian accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7 on Mount Vernon Avenue near Belleview Street.

Police said Giron was attempting to cross the street when he walked into traffic on Mount Vernon Avenue and was hit by a Honda Civic.

Giron died in the crash.

The driver of the Civic, a 23-year-old San Bernardino resident, was not injured in the accident. According to the police, the driver was not speeding and did not appear to be impaired.
