Rider Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Motorcycle Accident on Coffee Road near Gosford Road and Stockdale Highway; Trumonikia Fields-Johnson Arrested
Bakersfield, California (January 1, 2020) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday evening in an alleged hit-and-run accident in southwest Bakersfield, according to a local news source.
The crash happened at about 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 31 in the 200 block of Coffee Road, just north of the intersection at Gosford Road and Stockdale Highway.
Authorities said Trumonikia Fields-Johnson, 40, was driving a white SUV northbound on Coffee Road when she allegedly made an unsafe lane change and struck a man riding a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with moderate to major injuries. The name and current condition of the rider were not immediately disclosed.
Fields-Johnson did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. Officers found the SUV abandoned nearby and the woman hiding in a nearby restaurant.
Fields-Johnson was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run involving injury and driving on a suspended license.
Speed, alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
