Matteo Monica Hospitalized after Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash On Highway 79 Near Anza Road In Temecula
Temecula, California (January 4, 2020) – Matteo Monica, 50, of San Diego, was seriously injured early Friday morning in a deadly head-on crash in Temecula, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal two-car crash took place at around 12:25 a.m. Friday, January 3 on Highway 79 near Anza Road.
The CHP said Monica was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer eastbound on Highway 79 when he tried to pass a slower vehicle and crossed over double yellow lines.
The Lancer then collided head-on with a westbound 2004 Kia Rio driven by Becki Teague, 59, of Aguanga. The Lancer burst into flames after the impact.
Pollette, who was in the front passenger seat of the Kia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Teague sustained major injuries and was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where she listed in serious condition.
Monica was also transported to Inland Valley Medical Center with major injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
