Man Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident at SENTRI Line near San Ysidro Port of Entry
San Diego, California (January 6, 2020) – A man in a wheelchair was hit and killed by a vehicle late Saturday night at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, according to a local news source.
The deadly pedestrian accident took place at around 10:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4 at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
Authorities said the man was in the Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) line when he was struck by a black jeep with U.S. license plates.
The man, believed to be his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The female driver of the jeep reportedly crossed into the U.S. She was later arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
