Man Killed in Shasta Lake Pedestrian Accident near Lassen Avenue and Red Bluff Street
Shasta Lake, California (January 4, 2020) – A man was struck and killed by a freight train Thursday morning in the city of Shasta Lake, according to a local news source.
The deadly crash happened at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 2 on the tracks approximately a quarter-mile north of Lassen Avenue and Red Bluff Street.
Authorities said the man was walking down the tracks when for an unknown reason, he was hit by the northbound train that was moving no more than 50 mph.
The man died in the accident. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered factors in the crash.
Union Pacific police are investigating the accident.
