Jose Diaz ID’d as One of Two Drivers Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash at Union Avenue and Bear Mountain Boulevard in Bakersfield
Bakersfield, California (January 10, 2020) – One of the two drivers who were killed last month in a two-vehicle crash in the area of South Union Avenue and Bear Mountain Boulevard in Bakersfield has been identified as Jose Leonardo Diaz, 39, of Santa Ana, according to the Kern County Coroner.
The tragic accident happened at about 6:50 a.m. Friday, December 20 at the intersection of South Union Avenue and Bear Mountain Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a truck was traveling the wrong way when it collided with another vehicle at the Bakersfield intersection.
Diaz who was one of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was also killed in the crash.
A passenger in the truck was taken to a hospital with major injuries. The condition of the patient at this time remained undisclosed.
No other details about the crash were given.
The accident remains under investigation.
