39-Year-Old Jesus Echeverria Dies in Fatal Fresno Bicycle Crash near Fresno and Bullard Avenues

Fresno, California (January 9, 2020) - 39-year-old Fresno man Jesus Echeverria has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner as the bicyclist who was fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver in Fresno early Wednesday morning.

The deadly collision was reported in the area of Fresno and Bullard avenues after midnight on Wednesday, January 8.

According to investigators, Deshawn Mayo, 47, fled the scene after striking Echeverria, who was riding a bicycle in the area. Police conducted a search and located Mayo a couple of blocks from the crash site. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

Echeverria was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Fresno Police Department is investigating the crash.
