Jeremy Barrington ID’d as Victim Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 99 near McDonald Avenue in Sutter County
Sutter County, California (January 1, 2020) – Authorities have identified the person who was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident involving a big rig in Sutter County as Jeremy Barrington, 40, of Live Oak.
The fatal crash was reported shortly after 8:45 a.m. Monday, December 30 on Highway 99 near McDonald Avenue and just south of Live Oak, which is about 10 miles north of Yuba City.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, Barrington was driving a 2000 GMC pickup truck northbound on Highway 99 when for an unknown reason, he allowed the truck to drifted into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2014 Peterbilt semi-truck operated by a Turlock man.
Barrington was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the big rig sustained minor facial lacerations and refused transportation the hospital.
Authorities said alcohol played a role in the crash, but the big rig driver has not been arrested.
Highway 99 was shut down southbound at Clark Road and northbound was closed at Paseo Road.
The accident remains under investigation.
