Claremont, California (January 10, 2020) - A woman was arrested in connected with a hit-and-run accident that led to the death of a pedestrian in Claremont early Wednesday morning.

James Radzik, 50, of Rancho Cucamonga was killed in the crash that happened in the 1600 block of Towne Avenue near Syracuse Drive before 2:30 a.m. January 8.

Radzik's body was found on a pavement along the street.

The driver who struck Radzik fled the scene after the incident.

After an investigation, police arrested 67-year-old Helen Scheuplein, of Covina in connection with the incident. She was located in the 500 block of East Foothill Boulevard at around 5:55 p.m. Thursday.

Scheuplein was being held at the Claremont Police Department Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and hit-and-run causing death. She was held on a $100,000 bail.

Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
