George Rodriguez ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Avenue J and Central Way in Lancaster
Lancaster, California (January 4, 2020) – The motorcyclist who was killed Tuesday morning in a traffic accident at an intersection in Lancaster has been identified as George Luis Rodriguez, 45, of Fontana, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal crash took place at about 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31 on Avenue J at Valley Central Way.
Authorities said Lonny Quintana of Lancaster, was driving a 2012 Honda CRV eastbound on Avenue J while Rodriguez was riding a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Avenue J and approaching the intersection.
Quintana reportedly made a left turn onto northbound Valley Central Way in front of the 2013 Suzuki motorcycle and both vehicles collided.
Rodriguez was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was a corrections officer at the Lancaster State Prison.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash, but speed appeared to be a contributing factor for the motorcycle rider.
