Auburn Woman Killed After 2-Vehicles Crashed on Highway 49 at Joeger Road
Auburn, California (January 11, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a fatal traffic collision that took place in Auburn at about 8:15 a.m. Friday morning.
The two-vehicle crash happened along Grass Valley Highway (49) at Joeger Road just north of Elders Coroner in Placer County on January 10.
As per the CHP report, the deadly accident involved a Honda Accord driven by an Auburn woman and A KIA Sportage SUV operated by a 78-year-old motorist northbound at 55-60 mph.
The Honda reportedly came out of a private road and turned left on to the freeway. At the same time, the SUV swerved to the right to avoid the collision, but it ended up hitting the Honda on the left side.
The SUV overturned and landed on its roof upon the impact. Officials said both drivers were pinned inside their vehicles.
The trapped victims were extricated from the wreckage by emergency paramedics who arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.
The patients were rushed to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, where Honda driver died. The SUV motorist was treated for minor injuries.
Officials did not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the wreck.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
