Drake Ruiz Among 3 Boys Killed in Temescal Valley Hit-and-Run Crash at Temescal Canyon Road and Trilogy Parkway
Temescal Valley, California (January 21, 2019) – Drake Ruiz, 16, Corona, was among three teenage boys killed late Sunday night in a hit-and-run accident in Temescal Valley.
The deadly crash happened at around 10:28 p.m. Sunday, January 19 at the intersection of Temescal Canyon Road and Trilogy Parkway.
According to the report, Anurag Chandra, 42, of Corona, was driving a 2019 Infiniti Q50 when he intentionally slammed into a 2002 Toyota Prius occupied by the teenagers. The force of the impact caused the Prius to drift off the road and crashed into a tree.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated three teens who were pinned inside the wrecked Prius. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
The other three patients, including the Prius driver, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Chandra reportedly fled the scene after the accident. Police, through the help of a witness who followed the suspect car after the collision, later located the Infinity. The car was parked outside a nearby home with front-end damage.
Police later arrested Chandra on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon. It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Authorities closed Temescal Canyon Road between Trilogy Parkway and Squaw Mountain Road to give way to an on-scene investigation.
The incident remains under investigation.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
