Christian Zurita, 42, and Matthew Adams, 19, Killed in 2-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway in Carlsbad

Carlsbad, California (January 15, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol has identified the two victims killed in a two-vehicle collision that happened in Carlsbad on Tuesday morning as Ryan Adams, 19, of Utah and 42-year-old Christian Zurita of San Diego.

The head-on collision took place on 5 Freeway near Las Flores Drive on January 14.

As per the report, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Zurita was driving a Ford F-150 southbound in the northbound lanes when he crashed head-on with a 2008 Pontiac sedan operated by Adams.

Officials responded to the scene and declared both Zurita and Matthew dead as a result of the accident.

A 35-year-old San Diego male passenger in the pickup truck was confirmed to have suffered major injuries in the wreck.

Limited details about the fatal collision were released at the time of the report.
