Skateboard Rider Dies in Pico Rivera Collision on Paramount Boulevard and Slauson Avenue

Pico Rivera, California (January 11, 2020) - A driver fled the scene after hitting and killing a minor skateboard rider in Pico Rivera Friday afternoon.

A 15-year-old boy died in the crash that took place in the area of Paramount Boulevard and Slauson Avenue at around 3 p.m. January 10, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

A group of skateboarders were trying to cross the street in a crosswalk at the intersection when a vehicle hit the boy and left the scene. The vehicle was identified as a box truck.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, died at a nearby hospital.

Deputies said a 58-year-old male suspect driving a box truck was arrested in connection with the incident.

The authorities are working to determine the cause of the collision.
