Anthony Wright Sr., Anthony Wright Jr. ID’d as Father, Son Killed in Auburn Small Plane Crash near Auburn Municipal Airport
Auburn, California (January 24, 2019) – The two people who were killed Friday morning when a single-engine plane crashed in the Auburn area of Placer County have been identified as Anthony Lawrence Wright Sr., 80, and his son Anthony Lawrence Wright Jr., 55, both of Meadow Vista.
The deadly crash happened just after 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24 in the 13000 block of Dry Creek Road, approximately one mile northeast of Auburn Municipal Airport.
Authorities said a single-engine Stinson Vultee V-77 plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Auburn Municipal Airport.
According to the authorities, three people were aboard the plane when it went down. One person was declared dead at the scene and the other person was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The third person was airlifted to Sutter Roseville hospital in an unknown condition.
Authorities said Wright Jr. was a reserve officer and a full-time records officer with the Rancho Cordova Police Department. He was also a 23-year veteran of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the accident.
