Police Identify Man Killed in Highway 25 Crash near Bolsa Roadin Gilroy as Aler Roldan
Gilroy, California (January 9, 2019) – The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was killed last week Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash in Gilroy.
Aler Enriquez Roldan, 42, of San Jose, died in the accident that happened at around 9:10 p.m. Thursday, January 2 on Highway 25, just north of Bolsa Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Ford van, driven by Roldan, was making a turn from a private driveway while a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Jesus Rodriguez, 34, of Hollister, was traveling southbound on Highway 25.
The van then entered the highway from the driveway and collided with the Silverado. As a result of the crash, the van rolled over and landed in a ditch.
Roldan was declared deceased at the scene.
A 39-year-old man who was riding as a passenger in the van was taken to a local hospital with major injuries. His name and condition at this time were not disclosed.
Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose.
The accident remains under investigation.
