Adam Herrera ID’d as Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on 405 Freeway near West Rosecrans Avenue in Hawthorne
Hawthorne, California (January 8, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash on 405 Freeway in Hawthorne as Adam Herrera, 35.
The deadly accident took place at around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 7 in the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway near West Rosecrans Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2007 Infiniti SUV was traveling northbound in the carpool lane at approximately 55 miles per hour when for an unknown reason, the Infiniti collided head-on with a 2009 Honda Civic driven by Herrera.
As a result of the collision, Herrera lost control and his vehicle spun out before it came to a rest facing the wrong way on the carpool lane with the vehicle's lights off.
Herrera died in the crash. Two occupants of the Infiniti complained of pain.
All northbound lanes of the freeway were closed for an unknown period as the investigation and cleanup took place. Traffic was being diverted at the Inglewood exit.
According to the reports, the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were re-opened early Wednesday.
The accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
