6 Hospitalized after Tehama County Bus Accident on Highway 99 at Gerber Road
Tehama County, California (January 8, 2020) – Six people were injured Tuesday morning in a traffic accident involving a bus on Highway 99 in Tehama County, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place at around 7:51 a.m. Tuesday, January 7 on Highway 99 at Gerber Road.
According to the CHP report, a 1990 Ford Mustang, driven by a 17 -year-old Los Molinos boy, was traveling eastbound on Gerber Road toward the intersection with Highway 99 when the Mustang entered the intersection and collided with a Tehama Area Rural Express bus.
The driver of the Mustang and his 14-year-old passenger were ejected upon the impact.
The Mustang driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. The 14-year-old passenger also suffered major injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Red Bluff.
The driver and three passengers on the bus were transported to Mercy Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
