5 Hospitalized after Fresno Ambulance Crash at Herndon Avenue and Maple Avenue
Fresno, California (January 17, 2020) – Five persons were injured after an ambulance crash Tuesday night at an intersection in the area of Fresno, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The collision happened at about 10:00 p.m. January 16, at the Herndon Avenue and Maple Avenue.
As per the dispatch, an American Ambulance transporting a patient to Kaiser Permanente was heading west on Herndon Avenue. A sedan was traveling eastbound at the same time. For reasons still under investigation, the two cars collided at the junction.
The ambulance overturned on its roof as a result of the accident.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and rendered aid to the crash victims. Three medical personnel and a patient in the ambulance together with the sedan sustained minor injuries due to the collision.
The medics were taken to Community Regional Medical Hospital for treatment while the patient was transported to Kaiser.
Officials closed the intersection for around an hour following the accident.
An investigation is underway.
