Man, 2 Women Hospitalized after San Diego Hit-and-Run Accident on Sports Arena Boulevard; Marc Wohlfeil Arrested
San Diego, California (January 5, 2020) – Three pedestrians were hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Friday night in San Diego, according to a local news source.
The accident happened at around 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 3 in the 3500 block of Sports Arena Boulevard.
Authorities said a man and two women were crossing from the north side of the Sports Arena Boulevard when they were hit by a silver 2000 Ford Mustang that was exiting the Home Depot parking lot on the south side of the street.
The three pedestrians were transported to a hospital. A 54-year-old man had a minor leg injury and cuts to his hands, a 55-year-old woman sustained fractures to her face and a brain bleed and a 60-year-old woman suffered a fractured pelvis and left ankle.
The driver of the Mustang, identified as Marc Wohlfeil, 54, of San Diego, did not stop to rendered aid and fled the scene. He was arrested a short time later in the 2000 block of Shelter Island Drive.
Wohlfeil was booked into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and DUI drugs.
The accident remains under investigation.
