2 Injured in Santa Maria Accident at Union Valley Parkway and Orcutt Road
Santa Maria, California (January 28, 2020) – Authorities are investigating an alleged DUI collision that left two persons with injuries on Monday morning in Santa Maria.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at about around 11:33 a.m. Union Valley Parkway and Orcutt Road.
As per the CHP officials, a driver was seen driving erratically in the Santa Maria neighborhood. Responding police pursued the motorist. The chase came to an end when the suspect vehicle slammed into a SMOOTH public transportation bus.
Officials said the erratic motorist tried to flee away in another car but was stopped by police.
Two people were injured in the collision. The wounded persons and their current condition were not immediately provided.
It remained unclear if the injured parties were in the police’s or suspect’s car, or were aboard the bus at the time.
Officials suspected the erratic driver was under the influence of drugs at the time.
The incident remains under investigation.
