One Killed, Two Seriously Injured in Temecula Car Accident on Highway 79 near Anza Road
Temecula, California (January 3, 2020) – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured early Friday morning in a fiery traffic accident in Temecula, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The tragic accident happened at around 12:25 a.m. on Highway 79 near Anza Road.
According to the CHP, a Toyota collided with a Mitsubishi Lancer for undetermined reasons on Highway 79. Due to the impact, the Mitsubishi Lancer burst into flames, trapping its occupants inside the burning vehicle.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family.
Two other people were transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries. The identities of the deceased and injured parties have not been disclosed.
Highway 79 in both directions was closed as the investigation and cleanup took place.
