1 Killed in Hawthorne Car Accident on 405 Freeway near West Rosecrans Avenue
Hawthorne, California (January 8, 2020) – According to the California Highway Patrol, one person was killed Tuesday night in a traffic accident involving two vehicles on 405 Freeway in Hawthorne.
The deadly accident took place at around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 7 in the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway near West Rosecrans Avenue.
The CHP said the wreck involved an Infinity SUV and a Honda Civic and an Infinity SUV. Details of what led up to the crash are unknown at this time.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found one person laying on the ground next to one of the involved vehicles. According to the CHP, at least one person died as a result of the crash.
The name of the deceased victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
All northbound lanes of the freeway was closed for an unknown period as the investigation and cleanup took place. Traffic was being diverted at the Inglewood exit.
The accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
