David Ramirez and Janet Chavez-Calixto Killed in Chula Vista Car Accident on 5 Freeway near Highway 905
Chula Vista, California (February 5, 2020) – 24-year-old Janet Alicia Chavez-Calixto of San Diego has been identified as the second victim killed in a traffic accident involving multiple vehicles in the area of Chula Vista on Saturday morning
The fatal wrong-way collision took place at approximately 5 a.m. February 1, on Interstate 5 Freeway near Highway 905.
As per the California Highway Patrol report, the accident involved a Focus driven by 23-year-old David Ramirez and a black truck traveling northbound in the southbound lanes.
The two vehicles reportedly collided head-on, but at least seven other vehicles were also involved in the accident.
Ramirez, an Army veteran, and the other driver Chavez-Calixto were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, officials said two other victims were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries sustained in the wreck.
More details about the accident will be released immediately after the completion of the investigation.
