Tapelu Tapelu ID’d as Man Killed in Morgan Hill DUI Crash on Condit Road near East Dunne Avenue
Morgan Hill, California (February 5, 2020) – The man who was killed Sunday night in an alleged DUI crash in Morgan Hill has been identified as Tapelu Tapelu, 39, of Hayward.
The deadly accident happened at about 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2 on Condit Road, just north of East Dunne Avenue.
Authorities said Tapelu was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on Condit Road when, for an unknown reason, he drifted out of his lane around a bend and collided head-on with a northbound Audi operated by a 49-year-old Morgan Hill woman.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated the Audi driver, who was trapped in the wreckage. She was then airlifted to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. She remained in stable condition as of Tuesday.
Tapelu was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Alcohol was considered a factor in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
