80-Year-Old Woman Killed, Ruben Martinez Injured in Newman Truck Accident on Hills Ferry Road near River Road
Newman, California (February 12, 2020) – An elderly woman was killed and another person was injured Tuesday afternoon in a traffic accident in Newman, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly crash took place at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 11 on Hills Ferry Road, just west of River Road
According to the CHP, a Toyota was traveling westbound on Hills Ferry Road when it partially veered into the opposite lane and collided with a big rig that was heading eastbound. As a result of the crash, the driver of the big rig lost control and struck an electric pole on the side of the road.
The driver of the Toyota, only identified as an 80-year-old Newman woman, died in the crash.
Ruben Martinez, 51, of Modesto, who was driving the big rig, was taken to Memorial Medical Center with moderate injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Truck accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
