Person Killed in East Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway at 710 Freeway
East Los Angeles, California (February 24, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning on 5 Freeway in the East Los Angeles area, according to officials.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident happened at around 3:40 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway at the transition to the southbound 710 Freeway.
Authorities said the pedestrian was walking on the freeway when they were hit by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was killed in the accident. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The crash caused the closure of all lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway past the 710 connector. As of 6:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
The accident remains under investigation.
