Santa Maria, California (February 9, 2020) – A driver was killed and another was injured early Friday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Santa Maria, authorities said.
The deadly accident happened at around 1:19 a.m. Friday, February 7 near the intersection of Blosser and Stowell roads.
According to the authorities, an Acura sedan collided with a Nissan sports car on Stowell Road between Hanson Way and Blosser Road.
One of the drivers died in the crash. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The other driver, Michael Lee, 25, of Santa Maria, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center.
Lee was later arrested and booked into custody for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving a vehicle under the influence causing injury.
The accident remains under investigation.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
