Luis Uribe Hospitalized after Baldwin Park Car Crash on 10 Freeway
Baldwin Park, California (February 19, 2020) – One person was killed and one other injured in a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning in Baldwin Park, according to police.
The crash happened at about 4:00 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway, just west of Francisquito Avenue.
The police said a 55-year-old man from Montclair in San Bernardino County was driving a 1993 Nissan pickup truck on the westbound 10 Freeway when the Nissan sideswiped the left rear of a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV that was traveling in the No. 5 lane, driven by Ana Guillen, 57, of West Covina.
Due to the impact of the crash, the Nissan spun and stopped in a northerly direction, straddling the middle lanes. Luis Uribe, 37, of Covina, who was driving a 2018 Honda Accord, tried to avoid the Nissan but ended up hitting the right front side of the Nissan.
It was not clear if the Nissan driver was still inside the car in the second collision, the CHP said.
The 55-year-old man died as a result of the accident.
Uribe was hospitalized with a fractured back following the crash.
Guillen, who was not injured, was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the CHP Baldwin Park Area office at 626-338-1164.
According to Arin Khodaverdian, the Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, a separate investigation by an experienced attorney is necessary so as clearly uncover the circumstances surrounding the collision. “An attorney will also help the victim to navigate all the legal processes in pursuit of fair compensation and justice. Car accident claims are rarely straightforward, and, regardless of the circumstances involved, liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim. It is crucial, therefore, that you have an experienced attorney on your side,” said Arin.
